Abbey + Connor

How did you meet?

We actually met for the first time unknowingly when we were in grade one! Connor and I were in the same year one class in Brisbane and didn’t realise until our mums first met and got talking. Connor moved to Rockhampton with his family half way through grade one and I then moved to the same town with my family when I was in grade 4. We didn’t cross paths again despite living in the same town and sharing mutual friends until we met at an end of year celebration when we graduated school! We crossed paths at a mutual friends apartment and had an immediate spark.

When did you know they were the one?

We both knew early on we wanted to share a future together. I’d say within a few weeks I knew he was the one

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His gentle nature, his loyalty to his family and his drive in life

Who proposed and how?

Connor proposed to me
We had been ring shopping together after the birth of our first baby and had picked my engagement ring. Connor keeping it hidden until the time was right. One year later..the suspense was definitely building. I was 3 months pregnant with our second baby and we were well overdue for a date night. Connor and Ari (our son) went on an adventure, scouring the coast for the perfect proposal location; and together decided that a look-out in the hinterland would be the perfect spot to pop the question. Connor organised for Ari to stay with his parents for a sleepover, he then booked dinner at a restaurant we loved- the Terrace in Montville. Adventuring up the mountains towards the hinterland, Connor pulled over at a look out as the sun was setting. With my back turned as I was taking in the view, Connor seized the moment and got down on one knee, as I turned around Connor opened a box to reveal an engagement ring and that was when he asked me to marry him. I burst into tears, saying a definite yes (with a cheeky “about time”), to marrying the love of my life.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my dress in the Made With Love store in Brisbane. I was 9wks postpartum and had so much anxiety about trying on dresses so soon after having my baby. When I put Austin on I honestly felt so beautiful and just knew this was my dress. It was simply elegant and stunning and made me feel like “myself” again

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The best moment was when I got to sit with my husband after our ceremony had finished and reflect on the fact we’d just gotten married! We were honestly in awe of how perfectly the whole day had come together and were so grateful to just be in the exact place we were.

What were your favourite details?

Our reception space was entirely breathtaking! The sperry tent from Sperry Tents Sunshine Coast was the perfect addition to our reception and tied our whole venue style together. Our simple white flowers scattered from our ceremony through to the bud vases throughout our reception were the perfect touch of elegance.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Everyone says it, but please eat! There’s nothing worse then a belly full of champagne and no food…

Any standout vendors?

Every single one of our vendors were standout. We had the absolute dream team! We would highly recommend each and every one of them. Our day couldn’t have been any more perfect thanks to all of them. If I had to choose one, our venue, Palm Creek Estate, would be my top pic for wedding venue’s on the Sunshine Coast. We did lots of research and venue tours and it was the most magical by far
